The show that carried the club's name for thirty-five years, dating itself.

That single sentence sets the frame for everything the Emblem Club cup did. The show is older than the club — it began in 1911, the emblem arrived in 1912 — and its own gaps explain the cup's. The 1918 and 1919 blanks are independently attested by a 1920 notice saying the cups were last awarded “in the summer of 1917”.

Nearly 45 divisions were arranged for 1939, with five cups: the Lions club award for the sweepstakes winner, the Elks award for the most points won by an individual exhibitor, the Johnson cup for the best still-life exhibit, the Garden club award for the best colour-harmony exhibit under fourteen inches, “and the Emblem club award for the best modernistic arrangement”.

The paper adds that Mrs. R. E. McCormack, who had taken the Lions sweepstakes the previous year and the Elks award in 1938, had won the Emblem club cup as well, and had moved to Albany a few weeks before.
