A second fraternal body founded in Bend, with the Emblem Club feeding it afterwards.
A second fraternal body came into existence in Bend that Sunday afternoon at Sather's Hall: twenty-one old members of the order living in and near Bend, thirty-five new initiates, and Bend Council, Knights of Columbus, formally organized. The ritualistic and organization work would be done there, and it was hoped to finish early in the evening — at which point, the notice says, the Knights would adjourn to the Emblem club.
Two years before the Elks were instituted in the Emblem Club's own hall, this is the same pattern: a fraternal order coming into existence in Bend, and the clubhouse taking the supper. By 1922 the Pythians would bring two hundred.
The club itself is invisible in this notice. It is the room that appears, which is most of what the record does between 1916 and 1924.
