Both trophies stayed with their previous winners, and the Emblem Club cup kept the rule the club had written for it.
The award recognized the most artistic arrangement of at least five varieties of flowers. The Commercial Club’s trophy also stayed with its previous winner, Mrs. E. D. Stowell.
Mrs. C. S. Hudson had taken the cup in 1916 and would hold it, on and off, for six years. Her husband was the C. S. Hudson who bought a buck’s head at auction for the Red Cross in 1921, sat as toastmaster at T. A. McCann’s farewell that July, and in 1919 promised to find four other men to take up the club’s debt.
The rule the cup was awarded under is the club’s own, published in 1916 and 1917 and unchanged: the most artistic arrangement of not less than five varieties. It would hold until 1927 and be gone by 1943.
