The toast, again, in 2025
Laura Segura · October 8, 2025
In the story: 8. Carrying it forward, since 2022.
A century on, somebody in Bend put the club's toast on a poster and posted a photograph of it.
The Emblem Club's toast has been picked up three times that this archive knows of. The Deschutes Historical Museum found it while sorting its archives and made it into greeting cards and shirts in 2020. It is on this site. And in October 2025 Laura Segura posted a poster of it: the words of the toast set inside an orange-amber disc, with the letters of BEND filling the circle and touching its edge.
No picture of the poster is reproduced here. The account is a private individual's rather than an organisation's or a business's, which under this project's own reproduction rule means the object is reproduced only where it can be cropped clear of the person — and the research export holds no crop of it at all. The link is the record.
What it stands for is the one thing the site keeps saying: the emblem was given to the town for the use of all, and people go on using it without asking anybody.

One dated sighting, 2025. Each is a record of this object or this drawing somewhere else.
