The column that found the lumbermen's night — and quietly altered a name.
The original of December 12, 1921 is filed. It agrees on the number — ten kittens, in the order's own vocabulary — and adds what the column drops: about forty members expected, and three visiting Shevlin-Hixon sales agents in from Minneapolis and Omaha.
But it prints Frank R. Prince, and this column prints Frank H. Prince. Both were read at high resolution to be sure, because this project first assumed the difference was its own bad reading of the column. It was not. The retrospective changed a letter of a man's name, and for the twelve years where only the column survives there would be no way to know.
