Five town bodies, five classes, and by 1943 only one of them no longer existed. The Elks had been instituted in the Emblem Club's own hall in 1919; the chamber of commerce grew out of the Commercial Club that adopted its constitution there in 1920. The Emblem Club had voted itself out of existence nineteen years earlier and its cup was still on the list.
It also shows how the classes were being chosen. An under-water arrangement and a victory arrangement are wartime inventions; modernistic had been the Emblem cup's class in 1939 and 1940 as well.
