The earliest record of the cup being put on public show.

Entries had to be in before noon on the Wednesday so the judges could make their awards before the doors opened at two. The notice then does something no earlier one had: it says where the cups were.

This is the earliest instance of a habit that lasted: in 1940 the five town trophies spent four days in the Lumbermen's insurance agency window on Wall street. The cup was not merely awarded, it was exhibited — a piece of silver with a dead club's name on it, put in a shop window to draw entries.

Mrs. Charles Hayes, taking the entries here, won the cup two days later.

The transcription stops where the filed reading stops. The page continues past it with a telephone number and a clause about table space, neither of which has been read against the image.
