Four sentences that record the club stopping, and starting again.

This archive's timeline has carried the substance of this notice as an OCR-only row, marked as such. It is now read from the page, which matters because of what it contains: the clubhouse had been closed. Nothing else in the record says so, and the club's public life in 1916 and 1917 gives no sign of it.

The reorganisation announced here is the first of two. This one, in January 1918, produced an officer slate in February and a full social season; the second, in May 1919, bought the building, billed dues, and is the one the paper calls "the work to bring the Emblem club to life". Between them sits the war, the influenza bans, and W. D. Cheney's departure into other business.

The detail to keep is the meeting place. The members met in the club house to decide to reopen the club house — so the building was standing, available and in the club's hands throughout whatever the closure was.

From the source

TO REOPEN CLUB. At a meeting of the members of the Emblem club held in the club house last night it was decided to proceed with the re-organization of the club. It is expected to reopen the club house in the near future and to give dances at regular intervals. The annual dinner will be given in February.
