A first-time exhibitor swept the twentieth annual flower show — and the Emblem Club cup she won had nobody else entered for it.
The twentieth annual show, at the Pilot Butte Inn, and a woman who had never exhibited before took twelve blue ribbons and both trophies. The judges did not know whose flowers they were until they had decided, and then asked.
One clause in the second paragraph is the reason this page is in the archive. She was unopposed for either cup. Nine years after the Emblem Club voted to wind itself up, its trophy was still being awarded and nobody else had entered for it. The name outlived the club; by 1933 the competition had not.
The numbering matters too. “20th annual” counts from 1914, which is the same start the 1925 prize list gives with its “Twelfth Annual” and the 1927 report with its “14th annual”. Three years agree, against a 1939 account dating the first show to 1911 and a 1940 notice calling it the Garden club’s 19th.

Annual Display Held Today in Pilot Butte Inn Well Attended
Mrs. Roy Reynolds made a clean sweep at the 20th annual Bend flower show today, winning 12 blue ribbons, the Emblem club and Bend Garden club cups. Her flowers were pronounced unusually good by the judge. Mrs. Reynolds has never shown before.
Although Mrs. Reynolds was unopposed for either of the trophy cups, the judges spent much time admiring the blooms and hastened to inquire the name of the grower as soon as the decision had been made.
