A year after the club voted to disband, Bend’s emblem was heading to Portland on small wooden souvenirs.
Twenty-nine Shevlin-Hixon Lumberjack Band musicians were preparing for the Rose Festival. At a Portland Ad Club luncheon in the Benson Hotel, they would distribute small squares of wood bearing green lettering and the Bend emblem.
The paper also announced a KGW radio concert and a hospital visit. Music, local timber and the city's mark traveled together. The wooden souvenirs themselves have yet to be located. Reading the page image corrected the machine transcription's “Three squares of wood” to “These squares of wood”, which is the difference between three souvenirs and every one of them carrying the emblem.
