The Chamber keeps its swan

The Chamber’s own mark, four months after its visitor bureau’s roundel first appears, and two weeks before the two organisations separated.

A swan in a diamond, the Chamber’s mark since at least 1998, with a band reading VISITOR & CONVENTION BUREAU added beneath it. No roundel.

The research pass that found this file reported it at a capture of 27 June 2001 and used it to bracket the roundel’s creation to the seven weeks before 14 August. The CDX index does not support that: exactly four captures of this file exist, and the earliest is 14 December 2001. The bracket does not hold, and the file says something else instead — that the Chamber’s own sidebar still carried the swan four months after the roundel was live on the bureau’s page, and two weeks before the Bulletin reported the bureau separating from the Chamber effective 1 January 2002.

That supports what the rest of the record suggests: the roundel was the bureau’s, and never the Chamber’s own. The Chamber kept the swan into its 2004 header and rebranded in 2021 without reference to the emblem.
