The weekly edition’s repeat of the June 15 report, a week later and word for word.

The Bulletin published a daily and a weekly in this period, and the weekly carried the week’s news over again for readers out of town. This is the daily’s report of 15 June reprinted on the 22nd: the committee reporting for the emblem the Emblem Club had adopted, the club’s permission to use it “in any way it sees fit”, and the Bend Iron Works ready to cast it in aluminium for automobiles.

A repeat is worth filing for two reasons. It doubles the readership of the sentence that handed the emblem to the town — the daily reached Bend, the weekly reached the county. And where the daily’s file is thin, the weekly is sometimes what survives.

The archive holds both editions of this report. The sentence is identical in each.

From the source

The committee to investigate the matter of a Bend emblem reported in favor of the one adopted several years ago by the Emblem club, which has given its permission for the club to use the emblem in any way it sees fit. The report states that the Bend Iron Works is already prepared to manufacture emblems for use on automobiles, of aluminum.
