The emblem as a letter O
Bend Visitor & Convention Bureau · June 8, 2006
In the story: 6. The emblem outlives the club, 1930–2010.
The visitor bureau set the emblem into the middle of its own name, where the O of VISITOR should be.
Between the bureau's 2003 header, which this archive holds, and its 2014 logo, which it also holds, there was this. A rectangle in two greens: BEND, OREGON across the top, & CONVENTION BUREAU across the bottom, and between them the word VISITOR with the emblem standing in for its O.
It is a small thing and it says something the archive's other bureau captures do not. The other marks put the emblem beside the name; this one puts it inside the name, which only works if a reader already knows what the disc is. In 2006, apparently, they did.
The disc is about forty-five pixels across in the archived GIF, which is twenty-two pixels of letter, so the drawing is not read here. The bureau's 2003 header, where the same construction is legible, is the place to look at the drawing.
