"The price had been underwritten a week earlier, when ten men agreed to take up the club's debt at a dinner dance at the Pilot Butte Inn. What this page adds is the founder's part in it. W. D. Cheney had offered, “that if the club were reorganized and made operative again he would be willing to turn over his equity in the property, gratis, to the new organization.” He had bought the Drake house years before and added the Emblem hall to it. He gave his stake back on one condition: that the club exist again.",
"H. J. Overturf, the new president, said it was too early to describe plans for improving the property, that a committee was working on membership, and that all former members were to be given an opportunity to join — after which the club would likely be one of limited membership. As to its character, he said it was designed “to make the Emblem club purely social”.",
"Eight days later the paper printed a photograph of the building. Five years after that the club voted to disband, and the Masons bought it."
