      "It took four meetings, all of them in the Emblem Club: a revival meeting on January 25, a membership committee on January 29, a postponed dinner rescheduled around a boxing match, and this banquet on February 15. The paper had estimated “more than 100 men in Bend who have attended college for a period of one or more years”, and about fifty came.",
      "Within six weeks the same rooms would be doing it again for the Bend Amateur Athletic club, and within ten for the Bend Rifles. Clyde M. McKay, the University club's treasurer, would be the Emblem Club's second vice-president the following February. This is the clubhouse working as Bend's civic incubator, which is a function the archive has described and never before documented in a run."
